Minor: Illustration

I choose Marywood University because the campus is always filled with familiar smiles. Marywood is a tight-knit community.

I am majoring in art because it is my first love. There is nothing that brings me greater pleasure than creating itself. I love to express my thoughts and my beliefs through visuals that any person or culture can read and relate to.

When I am not in class, I’m usually keeping up with my personal drawings, painting murals for local Scranton businesses, and participating in the First Friday venues that occur downtown. I also enjoy exploring the adjoining towns on my skateboard and inventing new algorithms for my latest oddly-shaped Rubik’s cubes.

The coolest thing I have done thus far is design and build a reclining chair made from reclaimed skateboard decks and baseball bats. This was for a project required by my 3-Dimensional Design course where we were to make something from recycled material that also could be used as a functioning piece.

When I graduate I dream of leaving the States behind, to travel, and learn from the earth.

I’d recommend the art program at Marywood because there is an immense variety of art styles to study. Some examples of art courses offered by Marywood that I’ve taken are Figure Drawing, Three-Dimensional Design, Printmaking, Website Design, and even Typography. Marywood also provides twenty-four hour access to all of its art facilities, including the woodshop, printshop, ceramic studios, and state-of-the-art Mac-Labs.
