When you’re in high school, college is a foreign concept. It’s an option that’s always there, but it doesn’t seem real until you’re doing it. And now I’m here, and I’ve finished my first year of college. It’s surreal.
It all went by so fast. I honestly cannot believe that I’m already done with my first year of college. But I’m honestly so thankful for the way this first year went.
This year was only the beginning of my journey, however, I already feel like I’ve learned so much. Through Basic Drawing and 2D Design, I’ve learned a lot about composition, which is super important in pretty much everything, ever. In my graphics classes, I’ve learned a whole lot of keyboard shortcuts, LOL!
In reality, I loved my graphics classes. I’ve learned so much in the short amount of time that I’ve been here at Marywood. I can’t wait to dive in deeper and learn more next semester!
Just like anything, I’ve struggled with some things in my classes. There were projects that seemed impossible, and then there were times that I had no motivation to keep working. Then there were the times that there seemed like there was not enough time. But I kept going and made it to the end! (Even if I barely slept!)
I feel so blessed to have been given all of the opportunities that I have been given this year.
Being part of this blog has helped me connect with others and gives me an opportunity to write about what I’m doing and what is going on around me. CMYKlub has given me amazing opportunities as a designer but also as a student to connect with my older peers.
The art department offers so many opportunities. I’ve been given the opportunities, on and off campus, to see some amazing art, from my peers and others. It’s wonderful.
Now that the annual portfolio review is completely done and finals are over, I can relax for a while. But even though it will be nice to have a break, I know I will miss Marywood in the time that I’m gone, even if it is only for a little while. My experience has been so much fun, I can’t wait to come back on campus in the fall!
