One of the many good things about being home for winter break is that I finally have the time to visit all of the museums I want to go to. Living on Long Island, I’m a quick train ride away from Manhattan, which has dozens of different art galleries and museums.
I’ve really wanted to visit the Cooper Hewitt Museum of Design for a while now. They show a variety of furniture designs, fashion and textiles, as well as prints and designs. Recently, they added a new interactive room that allows visitors to go through their collection of wall coverings and then projects them in the room from floor to ceiling. Hopefully while I’m home I’ll finally have the opportunity to see it in action!
Even if you don’t live close to NYC, going to museums and galleries close by is a really great way to stay inspired over breaks. It opens your eyes to new (or old) works that can motivate you to make something new yourself!
