It is time for a new exhibit in one of the main galleries here at Marywood. This time around they are taking a more unconventional turn. The new exhibition in the Mahady Gallery is; Hubcaps. Yes, that’s right. The artists are using a normal everyday object that most would not perceive as art worthy, and turning them into something beautiful. The show, The Second Time Around: The Hubcap as Art, with be open November 10 – December 16, 2016. A gallery talk will be happening later in the the month of November to discuss reusing and the arts.
GALLERY TALK: November 16 at 3pm “Re-purposing and Fine Art, a conversation with Ken Marquis”
This art collection all started with Ken Marquis, artist and founder of Landfillart, Inc. He got more than 1,000 artists from all over the globe to create and donate artworks that are made from thrown away hubcaps. The goal of the exhibition is for viewers to think creatively of ways to reuse and recycle and the think of the artist as creative problem solvers and not just the creators.
