MEET SARAH:student, sarah

Name: Sarah P. Pfeil, Class of 2019

Major: Art Therapy

Minor: (Considering Declaring) Psychology

I am majoring in Art because art is something I have always been interested in. Since my junior year of high school, I have been unraveled in all of it. Art allows me to express my thoughts on a bad day, a great day, or just when I am relaxing, doing nothing specific.

The kinds of things that inspire me are I find inspiration in nature and music. I look to nature, such as sunsets/sunrises, the moon, and beach scenes for particular inspiration for art pieces. With music, I like to listen to songs, find a quote that speaks to me, and sketch out what it makes me think of.

My favorite class so far was painting. I had always known I enjoyed painting, but not that much. The class taught me very valuable skills, whether the subject matter was a model, landscape, or a still life. It is a kind of class where I learned and had a lot of fun at the same time.

When I’m not in class I’m usually hanging out with a few friends around campus, drawing in my sketchbook, or taking a nice nap.

The coolest thing I’ve done so far was 2D class! In 2D, I was creating art that was a little different from what I was used to making and I loved that! I was always surprised with the finished piece, and that made me more excited about creating future pieces.

When I graduate I will be attending Graduate School.

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because art becomes your main focus. With help from professors, you learn different skills and how to use those skills in each piece to make the product a reflection of you.
