2016 Print Guild

This year’s Print Guild exhibition will be featuring 18 artist, including professors, past and current students, and guest participants. The Print Guild exhibit will be in the Kresge Gallery located on the first floor of the Insalaco Center for Studio Arts. Examples of prints include digital, photography, giclee print, woodcutting, etc. All the prints in the show are limited edition and each are unique.

KRESGE GALLERY: September 19, 2016 – October 3, 2016
OPENING RECEPTION: September 27, 2016 at 5 pm

During the opening reception, on Tuesday, September 27th from 5-6pm, everyone, including the public, is welcome to attend and view this year’s work. A little bit into the reception there will be an informal talk among the artists and guests. Artists will discuss their own pieces and answer any questions that anyone has.

Last year I attended and it was nice to see what the faculty and students are doing.  The informal talk they had, in my opinion, is better than formal gallery talks since you can get a better understanding of every individuals piece of work. You can learn what inspired them, their methods, and techniques used.

Visit the Marywood Print Guild online to check out last year’s prints and work from previous years up until 2003, when the Print Guild was started by Professor Peter Hoffer. Another thing that I was unaware of until now is that under the Student Work page on the Art Department website you’ll also find another online collection of student work in the Student Printmaking Archive. The collection contains student work from all the way back to 1973 to present day. After visiting the Print Guild show check out both of the links to further appreciate printmaking.

If you’re interested in attending, you’ll find an event for the Print Guild reception and show on the Marywood University Art Department Facebook page.
